Meeting Meeting Expectations

Most lawyers dread meetings...
...and for good reasons.
Meetings that are not managed well usually have costly, unintended long-term results for the firm and its clients.
If you have ever wondered, “Are we wasting money holding this meeting?” the answer is probably “yes.”
the Meeting Meeting Expectations meetings
Meeting Meeting Expectations provides laboratory experiences in the skills and art of planning, managing, and following up on business meetings. The program consists of two sessions, each approximately three hours long and held approximately four weeks apart.
- Session 1 explores the basic dynamics and structural issues that shape the effective planning and management of business meetings in law firms, as well as meetings with clients. Planning an effective meeting involves a number of critical decisions that most lawyers overlook. Leaders and participants have definite roles in moving the meeting agenda forward; and these must be anticipated in advance.
-
Session 2 is held approximately four weeks later, after the participants have had opportunities to apply the basic principles of effective meeting planning and structure to their real-life meeting situations. During Session 2 we examine the way that people typically interact with each other in a group setting. What are the behaviors that can derail even the best-organized meeting? How can we detect the early warning signs of problems and deal with them effectively?
Who should participate?
Meeting Meeting Expectations is designed for lawyers and senior functional managers who are responsible for planning meetings with colleagues or clients, as well as those who must frequently participate actively in meetings. We tailor each session to the level of responsibility, seniority, and specific needs of each group.
